Harvest Report 2014

We started harvest exceptionally early on the 14th September  and finished on the 18th October.  We really could not have asked for better growing and harvest conditions this year. The warm spring resulted in an early bud break at the beginning of April but we did not have any frost problems. The summer was warm and generally dry but with sufficient rain to keep the vines happy. The Indian Summer in September meant the grapes ripened very well and kept botrytis at bay throughout. All this resulted in a very large, ripe and clean harvest. So much so that we have had to buy an additional tank for the vinification.

Our Dornfelder took the record for the highest yield per vine at around 5.3 kg. we’d like to thank our friends and family for helping with the harvest this year, particularly sometimes at very short notice. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Warmest regards

Jim and Cathy, Evie and Sam
